Receive up to £30,000 grant funding towards EV chargers for apartment blocks and flats
The Government have announced that they will invest £50 million towards the installation of electric vehicle charge points, as the UK make significant strides towards meeting its net zero target by 2050.
Under the OZEV (Office for Zero Emission Vehicles) scheme, they are increasing the grant funding for people living in apartment blocks, flats and rented accommodation, so they too can enjoy the benefits of driving electric vehicles. This will now encourage residents to make the switch where charging provisions have previously been limited and potentially more challenging to secure.
From early 2022, landowners, owners of apartment blocks and social housing providers can now claim up to £30,000 towards their charging infrastructure.
The key changes to the grant funding now includes:
- £850 towards charging points installed
- £500 towards the provision of charging points being installed in the future
- Contributions towards power upgrades required from the DNO (National grid operators)
These changes will make a huge change for residents who have previously been unable to justify the cost of installed charge points in their car parks.
